Medical needs and disability

Plan ahead for medicines, equipment and the help you might need.

Make a plan

  • Keep a written list of medicines, doses and allergies. Add them on the Plan page.
  • If you use powered equipment, ask the supplier how long it runs on battery and what to do in a power cut.
  • Plan for mobility aids, hearing aids and assistance animals, including spare batteries and chargers.
  • Tell someone you trust what help you would need, and how they will check on you if the phones are down.

Extra help

  • The Priority Services Register is free. Energy and water companies use it to prioritise people in an outage.
  • Do not change doses or use equipment differently because of an emergency without medical advice.
